Why you should choose a Squarespace template that has Index Pages

Why you should choose a Squarespace template that has Index Pages by EG Media Co | squarespace designer, squarespace template, index pages, squarespace tips, squarespace brine family templates

When it comes to designing your website, I know it can get overwhelming trying to decide on which template to use. I would highly recommend you choose a template that allows you to have Index Pages. Index Pages are extremely versatile when it comes to designing your website.

Not many people take advantage of this beautiful option that Squarespace has for its users that’s due to the lack of knowledge of how to use them! Not to worry, though I am going to explain what Index Pages are and how to use them!

Index pages allow you to have multiple pages in one page. There are different styles of index pages depending on the template that you’re using. The most common templates used for Index Pages are in the Brine family, Bedford family, as well as Pacific family which allow multiple pages to be stacked.

I personally prefer the stacked version of Index Pages because it allows you to have a lot more control in designing your website to be as unique as possible and not have it look like you just swapped out the content from the template you chose.

Below you’ll see an example of an Index Page:

I’ve made a note next to each new page as you can see.

The thing I love most about Index Pages is that you’re able to upload banner images to each index page making your website look unique to anyone else’s. As you can see with the example above I used Adobe Illustrator to create the blue and white graphic that you see in the first page. Then uploaded it as a banner image to that Index Page. With Index Pages you can upload a banner image for each new page as opposed to other templates where you’re only given the option to upload one banner image that display near the top of the page.

You also have the option to upload a regular image of course, but if you’re just looking to upload a solid color background I would use Adobe Illustrator or Canva to create that and then upload it to your Index Page. Doing this will save you lots of headaches of trying to frantically Google what code is required to change the background color in one section. Uploading a banner image with a background color will be much easier!
