Entrepreneur life is not all that easy and organizing yourself in the best possible way will save you lots of time and headaches. The fact that it’s just you makes it that much harder, at least for me. I was so used to someone looking over my shoulder making sure I was getting sh*t done. Now that I’m working for myself I have to hold MYSELF accountable to make sure I’m getting everything done and working towards my long term goals.

Something else to note is that not every day is the same although I try to keep a routine, things come up and life happens. That’s also the beauty of being able to work for yourself, the fact that you don’t have to ask anyone for permission to leave and take care of things other than business.

As an online entrepreneur I’m constantly trying to do #allthethings and it can get overwhelming at times so finding a good routine keeps me on my track and helps me manage my time more wisely.

Maybe my routine could help some of you small business owners & creatives get more organized!

7:00am-8:30am: I start off by waking up and making myself some breakfast and get ready to go to the gym, which typically takes me about an hour.

8:30am: Make my protein shake as soon as I get home from the gym & shower.

8:50(ish): I meditate for 10 minutes to ease my mind and become more mindful. This is something I just started incorporating and I have seen a change in my mood and mindset.

9:00am-12:00pm: Work has begun! I open up my emails and reply back. Next is me starting on any outstanding projects I typically have this may take about 2-3 hours.

12:00pm: I will log into Instagram and post something new. I try to have a week’s worth of content ready, so I don’t waste time during the week thinking of what to post. I will also engage with my followers and comment on their posts for about 10-15 minutes.

12:30pm: Around this time, I will typically take my lunch break and stretch a little bit to engage my muscles. I try to stretch between hours as well.

1:00pm-3:00pm: Depending on the day I will either write my blog post or I dedicate some time to learn a new skill. Let’s say it’s Monday, I will begin writing my blog post and schedule it for Tuesday. On Tuesday on the other hand I will dedicate time to learn something new for example learning how to do something new on Illustrator or new Photoshop skills. I have found that constantly learning new skills keeps me motivated and it helps me avoid getting bored with doing the same thing over and over again. It also helps me serve my clients better by improving my skills! This will take roughly 2 hours, yes writing blogs is a huge time commitment!

3:00pm-5:00pm: Around this time, I will start working on my side projects. There’s always something I’m looking to add to improve my services at EG Media Co. This also keeps my interest sparked and gives me motivation to keep going. Having side projects is a must as an entrepreneur. Within these side projects you will find stuff like; e-books, mini-classes, designs and other miscellaneous ideas! I try to dedicate two hours each day to side projects, it doesn’t always work out that way because deadlines pop up or other things happen, but this is a folder I love to dive into.

Like I mentioned above not every day is the same, but this is the routine I typically stick to. As an entrepreneur there’s a lot of ebbs and flows but certainly keeping a schedule that will keep yourself accountable helps a lot. I love using Asana to manage client projects and I also use Airtable to keep track of my business and personal goals.
