Is Pinterest right for your business?
When I first started using Pinterest I had absolutely no idea how to use it. If I’m being honest, I was really intimidated by it. I started doing more research on Pinterest and how to use it for my business and I haven’t looked back since.
I’ve since invested in Tailwind and it’s been one of the greatest investments I’ve made. I’ve saved a ton of time by scheduling pins in advance. Not to mention most of my website views are coming from Pinterest, from people reading my blogs!
I have a guest blog coming from Angela over at Golden Oasis Media who is a killer Pinterest Manager. She’s answering some very common questions people have about Pinterest.
Is Pinterest something small businesses should be on?
In one word: YES! People go on Pinterest for ideas and 78% of people say seeing content from brands is super helpful. So, whether you’re a product-based business or service-based business, you’ll find that Pinterest is huge for building brand awareness, increasing your website traffic, getting in front of your ideal audience, making more sales, and growing your community.
What are the best practices for Pinterest?
Here are my 3 top tips for best practices for Pinterest:
1. OPTIMIZE YOUR PROFILE
First and foremost, make sure your profile is set up for success!! Pinterest is a visual search engine, not a social media network so the set-up is crucial. Check out my blog for 7 ways to set it up so you can start off on the right foot. And even if you’re already on Pinterest, use these tips to optimize your profile because there’s always room for improvement!
2. SET A PIN SCHEDULE & BE CONSISTENT
The number of times you should be Pinning per day totally depends on your business but good practice is sticking to 10-50 pins per day. And if you’re thinking “I don’t have time for another platform”, don’t worry, Tailwind’s got you! Tailwind is a scheduler & analytics tool that saves you SO much time and does the heavy lifting for you. More on Tailwind a little later 😉
3. FOCUS ON YOUR VISUALS
Images on Pinterest are everythinggg. So, create beautiful templates for your business that match your brand and stay consistent - you want people to start recognizing your brand from your Pins.
You want your Pins to be:
Vertical (Super important!)
Visually appealing (think eye catching graphics)
Easy to read (remember most people are on their phones!)
An extension of your brand
Click-worthy (think copy that makes people want to learn more)
Should I be blogging (or creating content) for Pinterest to work for my business?
I definitely recommend it for two reasons. One, the traffic coming from Pinterest is cold traffic, which means they need to warm up to you first if you want them to buy from you, join your email list, etc. Having valuable, free content warms up those leads that coming in from Pinterest. Two, it not only helps you build a relationship with people, but it establishes you as the expert in your industry! What better way than to show all those potential new friends landing on your website that you’re the real deal and that they need you in their life??
Is investing in Tailwind a game changer?
Totally! I’m a firm believer in investing in tools that are going to make your life 10 times easier and Tailwind is one of those tools. With Tailwind, you have access to SO many features like advanced analytics, Tailwind Tribes, and the scheduler alone (which alone is gold).
Tailwind is an approved Pinterest partner which means it’s only going to help you grow AND save you so time by letting you schedule week’s worth of Pins in advance while making sure you’re only Pinning when your target audience is on Pinterest. I mean, they even create your own Smart Schedule for you based on the times that your content gets the most engagement! They rock!
Should I as a business owner be investing in Tailwind right away?
It depends on your situation. If you have the funds or if your business relies heavily on Pinterest (like maybe a blogger), by all means, do it! It’ll save you an incredible amount of time and it’s a tool that will help you grow your account with ease.
But if you’re just starting out and want to dip your toes in the water first before going all in, try manually pinning a few Pins per day and go from there. Tailwind will always be there when you’re ready to dive in!
