How to practice having a positive mindset to boost productivity in your business

How to practice having a positive mindset to boost productivity in your business by EG Media Co | productivity, mindfulness, meditation, journaling, boost productivity, small business tips

As a business owner it’s easy to get off track and have your mind wander off into negative thoughts. It’s happened to me plenty of times and I’ve tried several things in order to change those negative thoughts into positive ones and also to create a habit of positive thinking. Don’t let the negative thoughts consume you or blur your vision, learn ways to deal with it in order to change those thoughts. I’ve started practicing several different things in order to change my mindset into positive thoughts.

1. Journaling

I was never the one to write down my feelings or thoughts into pen and paper, but I’ve found it very helpful in order to keep myself aligned with both my short-term and long-term goals. Journaling also helps with understanding your thoughts and feelings. Something you can practice doing is writing a letter to yourself each month in order to recap the goals you reached and keep motivation at an all-time high. Celebrate every victory, it doesn’t matter whether it’s big or small. Remind yourself how far you’ve come and keep pushing towards your long-term goals.

2. Daily Affirmations

I’m a firm believer that whatever you put out in the universe is what you receive ahem *the law of attraction*. So, practice daily affirmations of what you believe you are capable of. An affirmation is usually a phrase or a sentence that you repeat regularly to make a formal declaration to yourself and the universe of your intention for it to be the truth. Repeating positive affirmations daily will trigger your brain into believing them and you can start making those positive changes in your life. Start affirming what you believe you are capable of but don’t stop there, acting on those affirmations and taking the rights steps will allow you to get there. Affirmations are a good way to switch the way you speak and the way your mind thinks but don’t forget to take actionable steps!

3. Reading self-improvement books

I’ll be honest with you I never really liked reading but I know there are tons of benefits from doing it. Since I can’t get myself to pick up a physical book I’ve found an alternative to get myself to gain more book knowledge. I’m subscribed to audible in order to read or should I say listen to books more often. It’s extremely convenient for those of you that are busy because you can listen to them when you’re driving, working out, doing chores, etc. Reading allows you to gain knowledge that you wouldn’t otherwise have gained and it’s extremely cheap and effective! I’ve read many self-improvement books and I’ve got a list of more that I want to read. Reading self-improvement books gives you the motivation and confidence to keep pushing forward. They’ve helped me form ideas into habits and create positive thinking. I can go on and on about books that I’ve read but this post would be way too long so I’m going to leave that for a later blog post.

4. Meditating

I’m still trying to get the hang of making meditation a habit, but I know it can help you get aligned with your thoughts and feelings. I’m using an app called headspace in order to make meditation a habit. I do it once a day for 5-10 minutes and it really helps with being mindful of your thoughts. I would recommend headspace for those of you that haven’t tried meditating as they offer guided meditations and mindfulness techniques. Many people have a misconception of how meditation works and often think it is tied to a religion or meditation is only for those who are seeking enlightenment. That isn’t necessarily true, meditation allows you to relieve stress, relax, focus on what’s important and so much more.

5. Saying no to negative thoughts

This concept is simple, simply replace those negative thoughts with positive ones. You wouldn’t believe how often negative thoughts circulate your mind and being mindful of those thoughts will allow you to switch up your habits in order to create self-confidence and a positive mindset. I’ve become more aware of my negative thoughts by practicing what I mentioned throughout this post. Making those small changes in your life will help boost your self-confidence and productivity.

I hope some you are able to apply some of these habits into your daily life in order to live a happier and more fulfilled life. I know making these changes in my own life have helped me stay focused and less stressed. It has also helped boost my self-confidence, embrace failure and slowly kick the boot to self-doubt.
