How having a morning routine can create a positive shift to your mindset as an entrepreneur
As an online entrepreneur it’s me, myself and I and sometimes it can be easy to get off track and not get sh*t done because well hey I make my own schedule which is a blessing and a curse at times.
After being in business for almost a year I’ve found a way to shift my mindset in order to be more productive by implementing a morning routine. Morning routines allow for fresh new starts to your day without hitting you with the busy tasks that await you.
Morning routines can be difficult to implement at first because it’s like trying to create a new habit, if you already have some bad habits like getting on your phone first thing in the morning then it might be difficult at first but don’t give up!
Having a morning routine has really changed my mindset for the better not to mention, improved my productivity levels! I feel more energized to work, more relaxed and less stressed.
Any entrepreneur who wants to grow and who has big goals for their business should implement a morning routine to shift their mindset to increase productivity.
One of the worst habits we all have is getting on our phones first thing in the morning. This has been proven to induce stress levels which is not a good way to start your day. When you wake up your mind is a lot calmer and hasn’t been bombarded with the many distractions, millions of tasks, emails and to-do lists awaiting.
Getting on your phone first thing in the morning is such a stressful way to begin the day with. I know it may be tempting and it will be a hard habit to break but it will significantly improve your productivity levels.
Instead of getting on your phone first thing in the morning implement some peace of mind by meditating.
Meditation is a practice one must master, which may take years, but I promise meditation will truly change your mindset for the better. If you have never practiced meditation before I would recommend using a guided meditation app like Headspace or Insight Timer.
Meditation not only relaxes you, but it also puts your mind in the right place allowing you to focus on the important stuff therefore being more productive. You can use meditation for many different reasons; to relieve stress, for motivation, to reduce anxiety, to relax, for happiness, love, awareness, gratitude and so much more.
Which is why I’ve implemented meditation in my morning routine and which is why I highly recommend it for entrepreneurs. I’ve become more aware of my thoughts and have been able to shift my mindset for the better.
Meditation is one of those things that people might see as useless and a waste of time because it looks so easy. “All I have to do is sit in silence for 10 minutes?! Pfft. Piece of cake.” Let me just squash this belief right now, meditation takes practice and lots of it. It’s one of those things that is actually harder than it looks. Patience is key, you won’t feel a difference at first but if you stick with it, you will.
So, give it a try. Add it to your morning routine, and watch what happens.
Something else I’ve added to my morning routine is affirmations. Affirmations are a great way to manifest success for your business. I’m a true believer in whatever energy you put out to the universe is what you will receive.
I use affirmations to manifest the big goals I have in mind for my business. I have put them out to the universe and by taking the right steps towards those goals I know I will achieve them. Many people have a misconception about affirmations, affirmations don’t just come true by saying them in verbal form and not taking any action. You have got to take the right steps towards those goals in order for your affirmations to manifest into real life.
I would suggest you write down your affirmations somewhere visible where you can see them first thing in the morning and repeat them as much as you can, this also changes your mindset into believing that your affirmations will manifest one day. Repeating them will give you a burning desire to make them come true which is what will help you achieve those goals. I would also suggest repeating your affirmations before going to bed.
Last but not least I would encourage to add gratefulness to your morning routine. I practice being grateful as a way to remind myself how lucky I am to have been able to quit my corporate job to be able to find happiness and fulfillment. Not everyone is that lucky, I know my parents weren’t. I am eternally grateful for all the sacrifices my parents did to get me a better life and now as a grown adult I have the freedom to seek purpose, meaning and fulfillment. Being grateful of what you have and where you are will allow you to be more productive as an entrepreneur.
Just to recap, some of the things I would recommend you implement in order to shift to a more positive mindset and to increase productivity:
1. Don’t get on your phone in the morning
2. Meditate to focus your attention on the important stuff and become more aware of your thoughts
3. Write down your affirmations somewhere you can see them and repeat them!
4. Be grateful of what you have and where you are
I hope you are able to implement some of these steps into your morning routine, I know it’s really changed my mindset for the better.
