If you have a website, your home page is probably the most visited page therefore making it one of the most important. You want to make sure you’re giving your web visitors the right amount of information, so they know what you do, who you are, what you offer and so on. Your home page should be an easy hub for the rest of the pages on your website.

What do you do?

Starting off with the first thing they see when they land on your page, your web visitors should be able to know what it is that you do right off the bat. Don’t fluff it up be straight to the point. You have about 2-3 seconds to engage someone when they come to your website and you want to make sure they’re staying for longer than that.

Something that I see very often is people introducing themselves right off the bat, unless you’re someone like Jenna Kutcher or Marie Forleo where you’ve made a brand out of yourself this is pretty irrelevant to potential clients. Putting a photo of yourself on your home page is fine just don’t make it all about me, me, me!

Make sure that you’re also enticing your web visitors with a freebie of some type if they’re your ideal client they’ll be interested and therefore subscribe.

Services:

Next is helping your web visitors find what they’re looking for. What are your main offers? You should have them clear as day on your website.

Don’t overwhelm your potential clients with all the deets about your offers right off the bat. Give  them the option to learn more information quickly and easily by adding a “learn more” button.

Proof of what you do:

Most potential clients are going to want to see that you’re legit with proof of what it is that you do. Testimonials are great to have on your home page because they add legitimacy to what you do.

Tip: If you’re just starting out as an entrepreneur start by working with family, friends and acquaintances and once you’ve completed the project have them write a testimonial about the work you provided.

Something else that you should include on your home page is your portfolio showcasing the work you do. This is solid proof for your clients, and it gives them the opportunity to see the work that you do, which could influence them in wanting to work with you.

Do you have a Blog?

If you answered yes to the above question, you want to make sure that you’re including your blog on your home page that way your web visitors can see if they’ll find any useful information from your blog. Blogging is a great way to become an industry expert if by giving out free information to your audience.

Freebies!

Last but not least, you want to make sure that you’re giving out useful free information to your potential clients plus this is a great way to grow your email list! Give your audience a good reason to be an email subscriber. There are so many benefits to email marketing if you don’t know I wrote a blog post about it a while back if you’re interested in learning more.
