10 clever ways to use the Announcement Bar on Squarespace
The announcement bar is one of those extra perks you get for being a Squarespace user. It’s something many people forget to use because the feature is not obvious to the user. It’s actually under the Marketing tab > Announcement Bar. Regardless, the Announcement Bar can be used for many different things to attract your visitor’s attention. It’s placement at the top of your website has been proven to work time and time again for getting people to click on it. Be sure to write something enticing!
1. Promote new products
I’ve just recently launched Squarespace Templates on my website, and I have been using the announcement bar to promote my new digital products.
2. Promote your services
The announcement bar is a great tool to use if you want to promote your services or a new serviced you’ve recently started offering.
3. Offer a Freebie
Are you trying to grow your email list? Grow your email list by offering an enticing freebie in the announcement bar!
4. Direct visitors to your Contact Page
Do you want people to know that they can contact you before they book you or make any purchase? Let them know in the announcement bar that you’re available!
5. Announce important dates
Are you hosting an event sometime in the near future and you want your visitors to know about it? The announcement bar is the perfect plate to promote an event or an important date you want people to remember.
6. Announce that you’re available to be booked.
As a web designer I like to tell my clients when I’m available to be booked. Most of the time I’ll be booked at least one month in advance so in my announcement bar I’ll say something like “Now booking for March 2019, contact us now!”
7. Showcase your portfolio
Are you super good at what you do, and you want people to be able to see it loud and clear? Use the announcement bar to direct people straight to your portfolio!
8. Promote a Blog Post
Did you write a killer blog post and you want the world to see? Write something enticing to attract people to click on your announcement bar that will take them straight to your blog post.
9. Click to watch a video
Did you recently create a video of some sort and you want your visitors to watch it? Promote it on your announcement bar!
10. Do a survey with a free offer
Are you trying to gather market research, but it seems more like pulling teeth? Announce your survey on your announcement bar with an enticing offer/award at the end for completing the survey! This will sure get people clicking!
All in all, the announcement bar is a powerful tool to use, take advantage of it. If you didn’t see the pattern in all the suggestions, I gave you it’s that not only should you just promote what you want, you need to entice your visitors to want to click on the announcement bar. It’s all in the words, write copy that will encourage your visitors to click on the announcement bar.
